ABOUT KEMAYAN ATC’S LIBRARY
KEMAYAN
ADVANCED TERTIARY COLLEGE (KEMAYAN ATC) Library functions as an information and
resource centre for Kemayan ATC’s community. Other than KEMAYAN ATC Library,
users can access the resources from Kuala Lumpur’s ATC Library and the Tun Hamid Omar
Resource Centre for law and business which is one of the best private libraries
& resource centers in Malaysia. The Library provides access to both
print and electronic information resources, and assists users in their studies,
training, research, and personal development.
The Library is located on the top 19th floor of Wisma UMNO, Jalan Macalister, Pulau Pinang. It is divided into
two main areas. These are reading area and computer area. At reading
area, library can load almost 40 users at one time and 13 users at computer
area which provide thirteen internet-linked computers. The library also
provides wireless hotspot access for laptop users.
The library currently houses thousands of volumes of text,
covering related fields of studies with new titles being added regularly. This
excellent collection is supplemented by relevant books and serials that
encompass the fields of law, English literature, economic, computers,
mathematics, accounting, business & management, sciences and England law
reports, Halsbury’s Statutes and etcetera. In addition there is having
newspaper The Sun and revision planner which published by ATC itself to satisfy
the reading needs and research of the college community.
A few resources are also available in CD-ROM format like
extensive syllabus for A-level student and Hubbard collection which users can
retrieve on shelves.
MISSION
The Library's mission is to provide
comprehensive resources and services in support of the teaching, and learning
needs of the ATC community. To fulfill this mission, the Library commits to:

Build collections and create tools to support teaching and
learning;

Provide access to and promote the discovery and use of local and
external information resources;
·
Ensure the preservation and long-lasting availability of library
collections and resources;
·
Create friendly environments for study.
VISSION
To be a great information center to the ATC community in helping
them in their learning with improving the library resources and advancing the
technology in retrieving information.
OBJECTIVES
The main objective of the Library is to give good quality services to
ATC’s community.

To ensure cost effectiveness through library expenditure.

To maximize the use of resources (manpower, facilities, system
collection and space)

CIRCULATION
Each borrower assumes full responsibilities for all materials
charged to his or her account and for knowledge of and obey to library policies
concerning loan periods and penalties.
Student’s identification is required for circulation
privileges
Borrowers may check
out up to 2 items ( 1 textbook and 1 revision planner/summaries or 2 revision
planners/ summaries) at any given time from the
circulating collections in ATC Library.
Non-Circulating Materials
Materials from the following collections cannot be checked out:

Report collection
·
Red spot books ( privileges only to lecturer)
Circulation Periods
Student can be loaned for a maximum of 4 days
excluding public holiday and for staff have unlimited period.
There is no limit on the number of times an item may be renewed
on site, provided a hold has not been placed by another borrower. To be
renewed, both the item and borrower identification must be presented in person
by the borrower.
User can reserve book at the counter with fill up the
reservation form. When items are returned, user will be informed by email or
notice at front door or SMS.
The ATC management will call users which late at least one week
to return circulated materials in order to remind about your circulation items.
Circulated items can be may be returned to the
librarian desks or staff at front desks outside the library
Fines will be charges like following:
·
For overdue books - a fine of RM1 will be charged per day.
·
For missing book - a penalty will be twice the cost of book.
·
For damage's book- a penalty will be charged at least RM15.00 and
above depend on cost of repairing the books
